About
Gerry Kirk Consulting

What matters to me most is believing that my work contributes to the greater good. I’ve worked to enable churches to communicate more effectively, and volunteered overseas to support development and relief efforts through better use of technology. My focus now is on helping organizations and teams deliver higher value faster by teaching and coaching Agile practices and principles.
Extensive experience working with distributed teams over the past 2.5 years. I rarely see people face to face. Distributed can be done, but it’s hard to do well. Have experimented with dozens of tools and process tweaks to suit each team’s needs.
Process improvement is a passion of mine. Since becoming a consultant, I’ve become a fan of the Scrum agile framework. In January, 2008 I obtained my Certified Scrum Master designation and took an additional course in writing effective user stories from Mike Cohn, one of the giants in the Agile world (he came up with the concept of user stories and was one of the signatories of the Agile Manifesto).
When not working, I’m usually with one of my newborn twins in a sling and playing with my eldest daughter Malia. I occasionally get out of the house for a game of ultimate frisbee, a bike ride during the few warm months and cross-country skiing in the winter. I also enjoy connecting with others online in professional and fun ways.
